The Caithness Moray HVDC Link is the largest investment in north Scotland’s electricity network since the 1950s. The subsea link will connect the electricity grid on either side of the Moray Firth in Northern Scotland using HVDC Light technology and has the capacity to carry enough electricity to satisfy the needs of approximately 2,000,000 people.
In July 2015 Allisons were contracted by DFL to carry out the installation of the temporary fence which is required by the client to provide a way leave for the cable track which is to be installed.

The Allison teams are currently working in Watten, Caithness and Clochan, Moray providing temporary fencing, bell mouths and access gates. We have put to use our tracked fencing machine which allows our trained fencers to continually install quality fencing at a high rate.
Result / Technical Details:
Working alongside the DFL operations department and liaising with landowners has allowed us to stay on schedule and kept us ahead of the earthworks team.
Organising material, plant and labour in a number of remote locations has been challenging at times and Allisons would like to thank Tornado Wire for providing and transporting our material orders to these locations.
