West Lothian Council have been upgrading their housing stock over the last 2 years with various upgrade works being carried out to roofs, windows, insulation and rendering and the grounds of the building had been left in a neglected state due to the other works.
The project was procured through competitive tender and involved groundworks, hard & soft landscaping , fabrication and install of new metal railings all of which we were able to offer ‘in house’ which gave us a commercial edge over our competitors.
The works involved the take down and removal of all existing surfaces and structures, the installation of new paving, edging, stairs and disabled ramps around each building including all foundations and sub bases. The install of new brick walls & timber walls, fabrication & installation of new metal railings, gates and handrails. Import of new topsoil, turfing, tree and shrub planting. The contract also includes 12 months establishment maintenance.
Result / Technical Details:
The work came with a lot of complexities as the properties were occupied and safe access had to be maintained to both back and front gardens at all times. The gardens also had gas pipes and other services running through them which had to be identified first and protected as per Scottish Gas Networks recommendations.
Even given these constraints the project was completed to a very high standard and on budget to the clients and most importantly the tenants satisfaction.
